Transposing refers to the activity of changing notes and chords of a song or instrumental piece such that it can be performed in a new key. Songs that few chords, such as two-chord nursery rhymes, can easily be transposed by hand. For instance, “Skip to My Lou” in the key of F uses the two chords of F and C. If you want to change it into the key of C, you’d use the chords of C and G respectively.
Equivalently, a song in the key of F that uses other chords shown in the first row of the above chord table will use the equivalent chords in respective columns, if transposed to another key, such as C (the row of C major) in the same table.

There are at least three reasons for transposing a piece. It may not be a suitable or optimal key for your voice. You may not be able or enjoy playing the chords in that key. Finally, you have a transposing instrument such as the clarinet or saxophone.
Of course, you can transpose by hand but it requires converting music intervals.
