Hot off the press! The 9th title in the Pick Pluck Play! series—Book 3: Advanced Beginner Fingerstyle Ukulele—is officially published today, August 8, 2026! Why today?

Why publish on 8th August?

There are several reasons I chose the release date of the 8th day of the 8th month.

First of all, the number 8 is auspicious in the Chinese culture. Two eights, even more so. And if you add the last two digits of the year, 2+6 = 8. That’s three eights — very auspicious.

Secondly, the 8th August date coincides with Massachusetts’ tax-free holiday weekend for books and tangible items under $2,500. This milestone release marks the culmination of my target deadline to get this new volume out into the world. Check your state for your tax-free holiday.

Thirdly, August 8 is the birthday of one of my musician friends, who inspired me many decades ago to pursue what I love.
