3 Chord Thursday Waltz

On Thursday 1st December 2022, we gather to play chords following a medley of famous waltzes. You can also request to perform a waltz via this Google Form. A waltz is a dance in 3/4 time. A waltz does not have to be traditional, it can be a pop song in 3/4 time. Check out the Spotify list to get inspiration and ideas. (Read about it HERE and the quest for waltzes of Carulli). On Thursday 20th October 2022, we will experience 3 Chord Thursday as a ukulele bootcamp in which you learn 20% of what you need to play 80% of what you want, including strum patterns, 12-bar blues, and common chord progressions. 3 Chord Thursday: Nursery Rhymes

On Thursday 6th October 2022, we explore two chord songs from our childhood. We can strum or fingerpick the two chords to accompany our singing or pluck the individual notes of the melody or create so-called chord melody arrangements. Some of the lyrics are so familiar that we don’t need to look at song sheets.

3 Chord Thursday Workshops

On Thursday 18th August 2022, we will give several workshops in Zoom, all free. Join us at 3 pm EDT (8 pm BST) for an hour of learning and fun. Wear something loose for physical exercise. Bring your ukulele and sunglasses as usual.

3:00 – 3:20 pm Jen Bross (NJ), certified personal trainer, will lead us in a physical workout, giving us a taste of her fitness programme in Zoom. This will warm you up for what is to come.

Voice Over Uke

3:20 – 3:40 pm Anne Ku (MA) and Bruce Boreham (IT) will share a few tips and tricks from the popular “Voice over Uke” class, on how to find your vocal range so that you can sing any song.

3:40 – 4:00 pm Paul Malaspina (GA) will talk about video collaborations and other enhancements:

  1. Acapella Collaboration: showing the general process from first part to a finished project.   
  2. Using “voice over” in iMovie to add music to an iMovie video or slide show.    This is a simple way to add one’s own ukulele (or other) performance to an iMovie project.
