inaugural Coastal Ukulele Festival

I am excited to be invited to teach and perform at the upcoming half-day ukulele festival in the lovely coastal town of Cohasset, Massachusetts on Sunday 5th October 2025 afternoon. I will give two workshops. The festival is completely free to participants. What are the workshops?

Fun with Ukulele Workshop with Anne Ku at Coastal Uke Fest
Fretful Fingers by Anne Ku

Fun with Ukulele,” workshop with Anne Ku (KF), 1:30-2:30 PM, Trueblood Hall — Learn the 20% of what you need to know, to play 80% of what you want to play.

How to play chords without making mistakes and constantly referring to chord diagrams?

The five most often used chords from the C major scale and its application in the common chord progression of Pachelbel’s Canon with songs that use it in a medley with instrumental interludes.

  • Puff the Magic Dragon
  • Maroon 5: Memories
  • Pet Shop Boys: Go West
  • Vitamin C: Graduation

Anne Ku Rehearsal,” with Anne Ku, 2:30 PM, Meetinghouse (across the street) — Rehearsal for those playing with Anne in the closing concert.

Participants who sign up for the second workshop will receive the sheet music by e-mail in advance. We will work on my new piece Fretful Fingers, just in time for Halloween. The melody is written for high G ukulele. The accompanying ukulele (chords below) does not have to be high G ukulele. This will be a premiere.

Fretful Fingers is a short piece that can be played as a solo or duet from Book 2 of Pick! Pluck! Play! Series. Originally called “123 Ready Set Go,” this piece is intended to be eerie sounding.
